The Department of Assamese was introduced to Udalguri College since its inception. Initially, the Department offered only Assamese MIL, but subsequently, Elective Assamese and Assamese Major/ Honours were added to it. The Department caters to the educational needs at both H.S. and Degree levels. There is a small library in the Department meant both for teachers and students. It has a miniature museum with simple display of some articles used in traditional Assamese life. The Department also provides help and guidance to the students in the co-curricular activities including field-study and various educational tours. The Department is ever ready to actively participate in the corporate life of the college. At present, the Department comprises of six faculty members.
